In order to properly look back on the year 2010 I'm posting one picture from each month of the year. Here's a little description:

January: I've never experienced such a beautiful new years day. We wen't to Bugða, our country cabin, and the river had frozen completely still so of course we went iceskating! Every part of the ground was covered with ice crystals and I took a lot of photos. Maybe I'll share them with you soon as I didn't have a blog back then. In the picture you see my legs to the left so I didn't actually take this photo. My sister did. As you can see she has a very good artistic eye.

February: Rather uneventful month. Working in the café Grái Kötturinn in downtown Reykjavík with some fun girls. I don't miss serving coffee but I do miss these girls. One night we wen't bowling and Maja (pictured) did not have the best bowling skills but she made it all up with her fantastic cheering skills when ever she knocked down a cone.

March: The month of the big volcano thing. I did take pictures of it from inside a small plane but I was shaking so much that none of them are in focus. So I'm posting a picture of Ronja from a trip we took to Bugða. This time the place was covered with snow. Aint she the prettiest dog?

April: Me and Snorri took a drive to Úlfljótsvatn with his two sisters and their little boys. Suddenly we we're hit with a snowstorm and decided to hurry home. Símon had something to tell us when we we're hurrying them into the car. I took a picture as he said: "Bensi has pooped in his pants and also he burped." You can see Bensi stumbling about in the background -quite devastated.

May: I took ridiculously few pictures in May. But I did take a picture of this lovely chicken soup which I made from scratch.

June: Went and visited two of my good friends who live in Denmark. Did some late night-outdoors dancing on a bridge with Kaja who earlier in the day had received the highest grade for her masters project in architecture. Good girl! A lot of champagne bottles where popped in various gardens.

July: Met this perfect cat on Baldursgata while on my way to the annual FTT party which is always a perfect summer celebration.

August: Said goodbye to my beautiful baby sister who wen't to do an exchange program in Belgium for a whole year. I took so many pictures of her this day that in the end she asked: "Are you worried you'll forget what I look like?" I miss her.

September: Moved to London with my Snorri and four of our good friends!

October: Found this pretty fall clad tree while walking around Dalston.

November: Walked around South Kensington and realized how much I love living in London.

December: Been spending the holidays in Iceland with my family and my dog! I've had my mind set on enjoying this time as much as I can as I do not know when I will be in Iceland again. But I'm also really looking forward to going to London in January and starting a new internship.

Happy new year everybody!

I'm starting to remember what it's like not being able to wake up in the morning. In London I didn't have this problem at all. The first photo is taken at 3 o'clock pm. However the endless darkness gives you a good excuse to have candles burning all day long. Which is cozy and......festive.

Here you see some photos of my favorite icelandic christmas traditions. Pictures 2-4: Making laufabrauð with my over productive family on my mother's side. My grandparents house immediately turns into a laufabrauð-factory which makes sense since this family used to own a chocolate factory for 45 years. We all get into the old "let's do this!"-feeling and all that's missing are the ugly hairnets and huge headphones we used to wear while making lovely chocolates and candies.

The last picture is from my favorite christmas party. On 23. of december it is tradition to eat "kæst skata" and my dad's family always get's together to do so. Basically kæst skata is rotten stingray. When trying to explain this tradition to my british coworkers I decided to call it "stinky stingray". The taste is so strong that if you inhale while taking a bite you might risk a coughing fit....which usually turns into a laughing fit. When it comes down to it the taste doesn't matter but the act of preserving a crazy tradition with people you love and drinking brennivín while you're at it can't possibly be boring. In the picture you see my plate with a huge bite of Tindaskata (which is the strongest kind), some potatoes, beets and sheep fat (the brown stuff), beer and brennivín. Tasty!

We celebrated christmas today. I spent the day wrapping my last christmas presents, enjoying a walk in the snow (yay snow!) with Ronja, eating wonderful christmas dinner and dancing around the christmas tree with Snorri's family. Hope you're all enjoying the holidays. Gleðileg jól!

Pink sky and purple mountains. I ask for nothing more. Except maybe a bit of snow? Please? Today: Going to a friends wedding. Tomorrow: Participating in my family's annual laufabrauð-factory. Yay!

Reunited and it feels so good! Staying with my parents in one of Reykjavík's suburb, Grafarvogur. There are not alot of things to do here other than walking your dog. So fortunately I have a dog and this dog always seems to be up for a walk. On this particular walk we met some nice ravens who had a long friendly chat with Ronja.

Last weekend was indeed my last weekend in London this year. I'm getting ready now to leave for Heathrow to go to Iceland! So many people (and one dog) I cannot wait to hug.

Friday and sunday I worked in the Peter Jensen sample sale. Sunday was my last day. Sad. I am really going to miss all the wonderful people in this company. Next stop is Erdem where I will begin an internship in early January. Excited!

On saturday I went with Þórunn and Sara to The Museum of Everything. Amongst things we saw was a 300 year old puppet show, some fascinating Walter Potter taxidermy -like this one and also some live taxidermy (which I tried my best not to watch). This show is so good. Please go if you have the chance. After that I met Snorri in Winter Wonderland which was......interesting. A lot of rides, lights and christmasy techno music. I focused on the nice things like vintage looking rides, having mulled wine with Snorri and the funny joke a talking plastic tree told me; "How does Rudolf know when christmas is coming? -He looks at his calendeer." Hee hee.

Last saturday we held "little christmas" at our house. We made christmas decorations, decorated the gorgeous christmas tree (see fourth photo) and made piparkökur. Had loads of fun creating non christmasy piparkökur like pacman, electric guitars and the chanel logo. Also the shining twins made an appearance -see fifth photo.

Today I'm going to the Museum of Everything which supposedly has the craziest circus exhibition ever which is finishing tomorrow. After that possibly heading to Winter Wonderland!

We have snow! I love snow just as much as the girl who drew this heart on the pavement. Staying inside in this freezing weather. Snorri was kind enough to bring me some pickled herring from Iceland the other day. Mmmm....I have to have some every winter. On rye of course and preferably with a cup of tea.

Please check the new video to Snorri's beautiful song, Ólán, here. His record is also out in Europe, USA and Canada so maybe you should go buy it? Now? Just a suggestion....
